A nut driver is recommended to remove the 8mm fastener, on the right side of the Smart Data Link Module, due to clearance with the knee bolster airbag. The shallow socket and narrow shank of a nut driver helps to meet the required clearance, avoiding the need to remove the knee bolster airbag.
